How to Use and Store Your Silver Jewelry
One of the most frequent questions we get is:
"How can I make my jewelry last longer?"
The answer is actually quite simple.
Silver is a material that, when treated gently, will reciprocate that care for many years.
Here are a few small habits I've personally used for years and also recommend for Jewelarin's jewelry...
Put your jewelry on last.
When getting ready, first apply your perfume, lotion, and hairspray.
Put on your jewelry just before leaving the house.
Perfumes, cosmetics, and certain chemicals can affect the surface of silver over time.
We recommend removing it before showering, swimming in the sea, or pool.
Water alone is not a major problem.
However, soaps, shampoos, chlorine, and saltwater can affect the natural structure of silver over time.
Sometimes nothing happens, sometimes dullness can appear after a few uses.
Removing it is the safest method rather than taking a risk.
Removing it while sleeping is a small but important habit.
During the night, you might unknowingly lie on your jewelry, stretch chains, or cause pieces to rub against each other.
This both preserves the form of your jewelry and makes you feel more comfortable.
Store it correctly when not in use.
Silver tarnishes faster when exposed to air, humidity, and sun for long periods.
Therefore, when not in use, we recommend storing your jewelry:
-
In its own box or a soft pouch,
-
In as dry an environment as possible,
-
Without the pieces touching each other.
This also reduces the risk of scratching.
Don't hesitate to wear it regularly.
This is perhaps our most surprising recommendation.
Silver loves to be worn with affection much more than it likes to sit exposed for long periods.
As long as it's stored correctly, regularly worn jewelry often ages much more beautifully.
If it tarnishes, don't worry.
This is part of silver's nature.
Dullness or darkening that occurs over time can largely be removed with proper care.
So, your jewelry isn't getting old; it just needs a little attention.
Wiping it periodically with a soft silver polishing cloth will restore its shine.
Finally...
We envision every piece we create at Jewelarin accompanying you for years.
Perhaps it will be worn for a celebration, or make you feel better on an ordinary Monday morning, or years later remind you, "I bought this for myself at a turning point."
So, please don't save your jewelry just for special occasions.
The most beautiful stories are written in everyday life.
And sometimes a small necklace or a favorite ring silently accompanies those stories.
It comes with a story, and multiplies with yours.
